Solutions for Climate WA is a collaborative initiative working to accelerate climate solutions in Western Australia. We connect partners, undertake research and analysis, develop solutions and advocate for impact.

About Solutions for Climate WA

Solutions for Climate WA is an independent public interest climate advocacy project based in Western Australia.  We are committed to accelerating Western Australia’s transition to a clean, resilient, and prosperous zero emissions economy aligned with global climate goals. We advocate for practical solutions that position WA as a global leader in renewable energy and low-carbon exports while delivering secure jobs and economic diversification for Western Australians. We collaborate with industry, union, civil society, research and policy experts and community organisations to drive long-term solutions.

We are a project of the Climate Action Network Australia, a network of over 170 Australian climate advocacy organisations.

Who We Are

Jessica Panegyres, Director of Solutions for Climate WA – leading climate and conservation advocacy in Western Australia.
  • DIRECTOR

    Jess is an award-winning climate and conservation advocate. A lawyer by training, she’s led some of Australia’s most important climate and conservation initiatives, driving significant reform in corporate policies, government legislation, and philanthropic investment. Jess recently established Solutions for Climate Western Australia, a Perth-based public interest climate advocacy initiative. A Rhodes Scholar, she holds first-class honours degrees in Law and Arts from the University of Western Australia and a Master of Politics and International Relations from the University of Oxford.  She also serves on the board of Green Music Australia, which works with the music industry to reduce its carbon footprint. Jess lives in Perth with her young son and her partner, James.

Michelle Grady, Senior Campaigner (WA) at Solutions for Climate Australia – working with community, stakeholders and decision makers to secure lasting climate solutions.

    Michelle is one of Australia’s most successful conservation leaders. Prior to joining Solutions for Climate in 2024, Michelle was the Australian Director for the Washington based global charity The Pew Charitable Trusts. Prior to Pew Michelle was a senior advisor to the SA Government, led the marine program at the Australian Conservation Foundation, worked in Australia and Japan for the UK based Whale & Dolphin Conservation Society and was the CEO of the Conservation Council of SA. Michelle has a particular focus on achieving transformative change at scale, and a reputation for working successfully with all sides of politics and sectors on significant reforms including the creation of the world’s largest network of marine parks - now totalling over 50% of Australia’s vast ocean. Michelle has a BA and a Grad Dip in Business Administration and is a recipient of Australia’s Centenary Medal. Michelle lives in Perth with her husband Geoff and daughter Lucy.
